What's Happening in 4th GradeWe are already off to a wonderful year in the 4th grade. We have new math, science, and spelling books. We are practicing our writing in the Step Up to Writing program. We are working on our keyboarding skills with the Alpha Smarts Neos. In Social Studies, we have been studying California's regions and the first project is due on September 4th. Please plan to come into Room 8 to view the dioramas when you have time. - Patsy Hannebrink 4th Grade Teacher Dear Second Grade Parents,I am thrilled to have the opportunity to teach your child this year! This year we will be able to have a straight second grade class all day. The first week we will be getting to know each other, establishing classroom routines, and easing back into the school routine. I will be assessing your child's reading and writing levels over the next few weeks. The second week of school we will begin our "Student of the Week" activities. This activity will require students to complete a Read About Me poster for the week they are chosen. I have completed an example of the poster if you would like to stop by and see what it looks like. I look forward to working with you and your child throughout the year. I would love to have you volunteer in the class as your schedule permits. A volunteer packet can be obtained for the office if you would like to work in the classroom. I could use help with material preparation, checking homework, art docent, guest readers, homeroom parents, book order preparation, cooking activities, and any other way you would like to contribute to our class. I will have more information about classroom volunteers at Back to School night on Thursday, August 28. At that time I will go over our schedule, curriculum, and answer your questions. I hope you will be able to attend! Thank you, in advance, for your support and involvement. If you have any questions or concerns during the year, do not hesitate to contact me at 273-3665 x 218. I know this will be a fantastic year! - Helen Cope 2nd Grade Teacher Library Schedule for ClassesWelcome back everyone! I hope you all had a restful summer and are prepared to read your eyeballs off again. We are back in full swing with each class having made their first visit to the library last week. The following library schedule will help you remind your student to return their library books on time. Exceptions are always made though when they find themselves engrossed in a good book!
Happy 08-09! - Lesley Bullock |
