Hello! My name is Jessica Corona, and I am excited to be co-teaching 6th grade with Mrs. Emily Smith this year. I graduated from the University of San Diego with a B.A. in English and taught for two years with the Peace Corps in Poland. Later, I earned my teaching credential from Fresno State University. I lived most of my life in the Santa Cruz Mountains and I relocated to Grass Valley in 2023 when my husband retired from the fire service. We have three wonderful sons, and I feel so lucky to be part of this vibrant community.
I’ve taught 5th and 3rd grades in Watsonville, CA and prior to that, I was a library assistant at both an elementary school and a high school in Santa Cruz. I have always had a deep love for learning and teaching, and I am thrilled to bring my passion for education to my students here in Grass Valley.
Outside of teaching, I’m an animal lover with two dogs and I also enjoy spending time outdoors, especially hiking and swimming in river spots. One of my long-term goals is to learn Spanish more fluently, with plans in retirement to live part-time in both Grass Valley and Jalisco, Mexico where I can immerse myself in the language and culture of my husband and family.
I’m looking forward to a wonderful year ahead with your students, and I can’t wait to see the growth and excitement that comes with learning together!
